J. Hyneman Center is an easy access proto lab at the LUT Lappeenranta campus. Our goal is to create new ideas and give recourses for both building and testing prototypes. The lab brings together students, LUT research and companies with a common goal to solve problems with creating. JHC is equipped with a wide variety of tools that are free of charge to all of our users.
The protolab is named after LUT’s Professor of Practice, Honorary Doctor and inventor Jamie Hyneman, with whom the lab was designed in collaboration with LUT’s professionals and industry representatives. Today the lab is home to various projects originated from LUT or our collaboration businessess.

"Have an idea and walk out with a thing."
- Professor of Practice Jamie Hyneman
From Jamie
My sincere appreciation and thanks to those people who are working hard and making the JHC such a vibrant part of LUT! My theory is that a place like this should be a living, breathing, active participant in creating what comes out of it. As time passes it should acquire character and equal more than the sum of its parts.
It is thrilling to see this happening as the JHC evolves and grows.
